It uses a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor to measure the surrounding air, and spits out a digital signal on the data pin (no analog input pins needed). It&#8217;s fairly simple to use, but requires careful timing to grab data. The only real downside of this sensor is you can only get new data from it once every 2 seconds, so when using our library, sensor readings can be up to 2 seconds old.<\/p>\n<p>Simply connect the first pin on the left to 3-5V power, the second pin to your data input pin and the rightmost pin to ground. Although it uses a single-wire to send data it is not Dallas One Wire compatible! If you want multiple sensors, each one must have its own data pin.<\/p>\n<ul id=\"prod-info\">\n<li class=\"prod-accordion-content prod-accordion-content-description mobile-text-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"description\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse in-md in-lg in\">\n<p>Compared to the DHT11, this sensor is more precise, more accurate and works in a bigger range of temperature\/humidity, but its larger and more expensive.<\/p>\n<p>Comes with a 4.7K &#8211; 10K resistor, which you will want to use as a pullup from the data pin to VCC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"prod-accordion-content prod-accordion-content-technical-details mobile-text-wrapper\">\n<h1 id=\"tab_technical-details\" class=\"hidden-sm hidden-xs\">TECHNICAL DETAILS<\/h1>\n<div id=\"technical-details\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse in-md in-lg \"><a id=\"technical-details-anchor\" class=\"invizzy-anchor\" name=\"technical-details\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-xs-12\">\n<ul>\n<li>Low cost<\/li>\n<li>3 to 5V power and I\/O<\/li>\n<li>2.5mA max current use during conversion (while requesting data)<\/li>\n<li>Good for 0-100% humidity readings with 2-5% accuracy<\/li>\n<li>Good for -40 to 80\u00b0C temperature readings \u00b10.5\u00b0C accuracy<\/li>\n<li>No more than 0.5 Hz sampling rate (once every 2 seconds)<\/li>\n<li>Body size 27mm x 59mm x 13.5mm (1.05&#8243; x 2.32&#8243; x 0.53&#8243;)<\/li>\n<li>4 pins, 0.1&#8243; spacing<\/li>\n<li>Weight (just the DHT22): 2.4g<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The DHT22 is a basic, low-cost digital temperature and humidity sensor.
